WSRE PBS TV

It was a pleasure spending time with Jeff Weeks, host of a PBS television program. We discussed my book and how important its themes of empathy, compassion, and understanding are in today's world. We also discussed my book's illustrator, Katya Royz, and her grandfather, Efim Royz, a Holocaust survivor. I was so touched when Katya told me about her grandfather's story that I included him in the Afterword of my book.

“Meet Pat Black-Gould—a storyteller who doesn’t just write books; she heals with them ... Pat’s work bridges the gap between heart and history … Pat’s stories pulse with themes of compassion, inclusion, and resilience. (Even her PBS feature on Conversations with Jeff Weeks felt like a master class in humanity.) … She is also a theater director, murder mystery producer, and writing coach, proving creativity thrives when we refuse to be boxed in.”

“Multi-genre author Pat Black-Gould and I talked about the pivot she did from writing and publishing a children’s book to her first historical fiction adult novel. To add to this shift, Pat shared how she worked with her co-author for the novel, especially since she had 80,000 words for their working draft. The details she shared on researching for the book as well as co-authoring a fictional piece will inspire you to take your manuscript to the next level."
